BAD, which stands for Blaffer Art & Design, is an identity system developed for the Blaffer Art Museum. The word "BAD" is a strong statement in itself. The identity was designed to reflect that rebellious nature. Ultra condensed type gives the logo a feeling of refinement appropriate to an institution of fine art, while bold use of yellow, grey and sharp edges give it a pop of attitude. To further the idea of the various media used within an art museum, the cross bars of the B and A have been replaced by a stylized rendering of a smear, which is meant to look like someone took their finger and smeared the logo from right to left.
